We were inspired by the Celtic Goddess Brigid, who was a fearless young Irish woman. We are both mothers of beautiful daughters and we want you to feel inspired and empowered on your journey to womanhood.
The Brigid Box, a first-period gift box, is the perfect gift for a girl starting her first period and beginning her journey to womanhood. Our aim is to empower young girls to understand and accept the changes that are happening in their bodies without shame. We like to think of a girl’s first period as a transformation similar to a flower blossoming or a caterpillar changing into a butterfly.
In this box, the information leaflet gives simple yet informative and positive advice. The advice was rewritten by Georgina’s daughter Julia at 11 years of age. We wanted the information to be easy to understand and straight to the point, with infographics to keep things simple. We want this experience to be empowering, positive and informed. We will cover why we get periods, when they start, how often they come and how often they last, period pain, mood changes, body changes and sanitary products they can use during this time.
The contents of this box have been thoughtfully chosen with a young girl in mind and making sure they can be as helpful and encouraging as can be, and that she has everything she needs to be comfortable with the new and exciting changes to her body.
